What is Play Therapy?

Maria Montissori famously said "play is the work of the child".

Children do not communicate in the same way as adults. Many children are unable to verbalise their feelings. Strong emotions can feel overwhelming and often spill out into behaviour. Children naturally communicate through play; Play Therapy sessions allow them the space to find their own voice.

Play Therapy can support a child to express themselves and overcome a variety of issues including trauma, anxious behaviours, parental separation or bereavement. It can also benefit children who have physical and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Play Therapy is not just for young children. It's creative and flexible nature means it's ideal for older children and teens. Sessions are child led and centred around an individuals needs.
